Essentials for flowering and cutting in acidic soil

Acidic soils such as Camellia, Rhododendron, Milano and Gardenia are more difficult to reproduce in the north. After testing, the method of using drugs to treat and change the matrix is better.

The main points are as follows:

Matrix

The substrate is preferably made of vermiculite. Because of its dark color, it absorbs heat more, loose and breathable without bacteria, and the upper pot is not easy to damage after cutting. The thickness of the substrate is required to be 15 to 20 cm. Disinfect with 5% potassium permanganate solution before inserting and insert the cutting after 2 to 3 days.

cutting

The cuttings must be thick and strong in the year, 10 to 15 cm long. Leave 3 to 4 leaves on the branch, half cut in each leaf. The cutting incision should be flat and inclined, resulting in a larger healing tissue and more rooting.

Cutting

Before inserting, soaking the base of the cuttings with 50 ppm of butyric acid for 6 hours or more, rinsing, washing, and cutting after soaking, preferably for the rainy season. The cutting depth is 1/3 of the cuttings, and after plugging, it is filled with water and covered with plastic film.

management

In order to control the temperature and prevent direct sunlight, a layer of curtains can be added. At noon, the temperature should be kept at about 25°C. If it exceeds 30°C, ventilation or water cooling is required. Within 10 days after insertion, the relative humidity should be kept above 95%. Otherwise, the blades of the cuttings will easily fall off, and the plants will lose their nutritional supplements due to lack of roots, resulting in withering. Therefore, spray water 1 or 2 times a day to keep the seedbed moist, but avoid accumulation of water.

Take the above method, generally 10 to 20 days cutting wounds can heal, about 120 days to survive rooting.
