About feed management in beef cattle farms

Feed is the material basis for beef cattle production. A balanced and reasonable feed supply is a prerequisite for normal production of beef cattle. Full price feeding is a necessary condition for beef production and quality. Therefore, feed management must be strengthened.
(1) Development and utilization of feed The feeds that can meet the nutritional needs of beef cattle are rich and varied. In addition to legumes and grasses for planting, grain crops such as cereals and potato by-products, and economic crops, which are mainly by-products of oil crops, can provide a large number of cakes. It is the main source of vegetable protein. Animal husbandry, such as fish farming, raising clams, and raising silkworms, can provide animal high-protein feeds. The most common method for the processing of agricultural products as feed is crushing and silage. In addition, the ammoniation and micro-storage of agricultural and sideline products can also improve the utilization of crude fiber.
(II) Custody and rational use of feed Because the acquisition of feed is very seasonal, after the acquisition, it is necessary to do a good job of custody in order to prevent spoilage and maintain its original nutritional value. According to the requirements of the herd structure for feed, a feed quota is established, and the feed supply is organized according to the quota standard, which is regularly purchased and properly kept.
The economical and rational use of feed is achieved through rational feed coordination and the adoption of scientific feeding methods. According to different physiological stages, different ages, different requirements of the production of cattle, different needs of nutrition, after trials and calculations to prepare different diets, not only meet the nutritional needs of cattle, nor waste feed. At the same time, the feeding method was studied to improve the digestibility of the feed.
(3) Regularly assess the feed utilization rate is reasonable for the feeds supplied by the herds, and it is necessary to constantly analyze the herds, such as the growth and development of bred cattle, the effect of weight gain on fattening cattle, body lice and reproduction of adult cattle, and so on. In addition, regular assessment of feed conversion rate or calculation of feed remuneration is an effective measure to strengthen the management of feed. It can be calculated using the following formula:
Feed conversion rate = (digested feed / feed consumption) 100%
Feed remuneration = increased body weight or body weight/feed consumption unit livestock product feed cost = feed cost/livestock product unit livestock product production cost = production cost/stock product output
