Preservation of rare bird eggs

The selected co-operative eggs, or eggs hatched from a variety of rare birdhouses, should be kept in an egg storage room if they are not immediately hatched. The preservation of eggs is very important for the quality and hatching of the eggs. If they are not properly preserved, the hatching rate will be reduced, and even the consequences of inability to hatch will occur.
(1) The optimum temperature for keeping eggs is 7-15 °C. The upper limit of temperature can be used for short storage time and the lower limit of temperature for longer storage time. Since the critical temperature for the development of rare birds' embryos is 23°C, the environmental temperature at which eggs are kept is generally lower than 20°C, and the maximum temperature is not to exceed 23°C. Eggs can be stored for a maximum of 1 week.
(2) Relative Humidity of Preserved Eggs During preservation of eggs, moisture in the eggs is continuously evaporated through the egg holes, and the speed is inversely proportional to the relative humidity in the storage chamber. In order to minimize the evaporation of moisture in the eggs, the relative humidity of the storage room must be increased, and generally should be maintained at 65% to 70%.
(3) Eggs should be transferred within the preservation period of the preserved eggs in order to prevent the adhesion of the egg yolk to the shell membrane, so as to avoid premature death of the embryos. It is not necessary to change the egg storage time within 1 week. It is better to change the egg 1 or 2 times a day for more than 1 week.
(4) Time for egg preservation The preservation time of the egg has a great influence on the hatching rate. Eggs were kept within 2 weeks in the appropriate environment (such as an air-conditioned egg storage room), the hatching room decreased by a small margin; the preservation period was more than 2 weeks, the hatching rate decreased more significantly; when it was preserved for more than 3 weeks, the hatching rate dropped sharply. Therefore, it is generally recommended that eggs be kept within 1 week, and not more than 2 weeks. If there are no suitable conditions for preservation, the climate can be monitored visually, and the weather is cool (in spring and early autumn). The storage time can be relatively long, usually about 10 days; during the severe winter, the preservation time should be relatively short, and it is generally within 7 days. .
(5) The position of the laying eggs It is generally believed that the laying eggs should be placed upright with their heads upright during storage, which is beneficial for improving the hatching rate.
