Sample preparation method during use of elemental analyzer

The elemental analyzer needs to take a sampler in the laboratory test process. There are many kinds of sample suction and sample preparation methods. Now we will introduce the sampling and sample preparation methods of steel when testing steel:

1. Elemental analyzer to sample steel and sample size when testing steel

The size of the bulk original sample should be large enough for retesting or, if necessary, analysis using other analytical methods. The quality of the prepared analytical sample should be large enough to allow for the necessary retesting. For crumb or powdery foreign products, the mass is generally 100g.

The size requirements of the bulk analytical sample depend on the selected analytical method. For photoelectric emission spectroscopy and X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy, the shape and size of the analytical sample are determined by the analytical instrument.

Second, the elemental analyzer to test the steel and the quality of the sample

The sampling method used should ensure that the analytical sample represents the average chemical composition of the melt or sampled product. The analytical sample should have good uniformity in terms of chemical composition, and its unevenness should not cause significant deviation from the analysis. However, there is a possibility that there is a bias between the sampling of the melt, the analytical method and the analytical sample, and this deviation will be expressed by the reproducibility of the analytical method.

Surface coatings, dehumidification, dust removal, and other forms of contamination should be removed when analyzing samples. Porosity, cracks, looseness, burrs, folds or other surface defects should also be avoided when analyzing the sample.

When sampling the melt, if uneven or possible contamination of the sample is predicted, appropriate measures should be taken. Samples taken from the melt should be kept consistent with their chemical composition and metallographic structure when cooled.

It is worth noting that the metallographic structure of the sample may affect the accuracy of certain physical analysis methods, especially the white and gray structure of iron, the as-cast and forged structures of steel.

3. Sampling and sample storage of steel during the analysis of steel by elemental analyzer

There should be appropriate storage equipment to store the analytical sample separately. During and after the preparation of the analytical sample, the analytical sample should be protected against contamination and chemical changes. The original sample is allowed to be stored in a block form and the analytical sample is prepared as needed. The analytical sample or the bulk of the original sample should be stored for a sufficient period of time to ensure the integrity of the analytical laboratory management.

4. Sampling and sample identification of steel during the analysis of steel by elemental analyzer

The analytical sample shall be given a unique identification so that the melt from which the sampled product is taken can be identified and, if necessary, the sample processing conditions of the melt and the sampling of the original or analytical sample taken from the sampled product position.
