Efficient environment control for raising rabbits

Environmental conditions have a direct impact on the rabbit's growth and reproduction. Therefore, to strengthen the regulation and control of the rabbithouse environment and create a suitable living environment is conducive to raising the effectiveness of raising rabbits.

temperature control

If the temperature is too high or too low, it will affect the rabbit's growth and development, production performance and feed compensation. Appropriate temperature is generally: newborn rabbit 30 ~ 32 °C, 1 ~ 4 weeks old rabbit 20 ~ 30 °C, rabbit growth 15 ~ 25 °C, adult rabbit 15 ~ 20 °C. Therefore, in the construction of rabbit houses, open, semi-open, or indoor caged rabbit houses should be selected according to local climate characteristics; at the same time, attention should be paid to the thermal insulation of the rabbit house and planting of flowers and trees. In summer, indoor cooling and ventilation equipment or ground-flooding well water should be adopted to reduce the cooling measures such as feeding density.

Harmful gas control

If rabbit excrement and contaminated grass bedding in the rabbit house are not cleaned in time, large amounts of ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide and other harmful gases can be produced through fermentation, which can cause respiratory and eye diseases. According to reports, when the content of ammonia in each cubic meter of air reaches 50 mg, the frequency of rabbits' breathing can be reduced, tears and stuffy nose can be produced. When the amount of 100 mg is reached, tears, nose, and runny nose can be significantly increased. The permissible concentrations of harmful gases in rabbit houses are: ammonia is less than 30 mg/m3, hydrogen sulfide is less than 10 mg/m3, and carbon dioxide is less than 500 mg/m3. The key measures for regulating and controlling harmful gases in the house can be to reduce the housing density, increase the frequency of cleaning, reduce the leakage of drinking fountains, and strengthen natural ventilation.

Humidity control

The relative humidity in the rabbit house is preferably 60% to 65%, and generally should not be lower than 55% or higher than 70%. Excessive humidity can easily cause sputum, coccidiosis, eczema, etc.; too little humidity can cause dryness of the respiratory mucosa, leading to bacterial and viral infections. It is necessary to enhance ventilation, reduce the housing density, and clean up excrement and grass in a timely manner to reduce the humidity inside the house.

Light regulation

It is generally believed that the breeding rabbits are exposed to light for 14 to 16 hours per day and the light intensity is not less than 4 watts per square meter, which is conducive to normal estrus, pregnancy and childbirth. Male rabbits should maintain light for 12 to 14 hours per day, and continuous light for more than 16 hours will affect the quality and quantity of sperm. The appropriate illumination time for the long-haired rabbit is 15 hours per day, and the intensity is 5 watts per square meter; fattening rabbits are preferably lighted for 8 hours per day. Supplementary lighting in production uses incandescent or fluorescent lamps, and incandescent lamps provide better light. Ordinary rabbit houses depend more on natural light, and generally do not need artificial light.

Noise control

Rabbits are scared and scared. Sudden noise can easily cause miscarriage, refusal to feed milk, or neurological symptoms that can cause injuries. Therefore, when building a rabbit farm, the site should be selected away from highways and industrial and mining enterprises; the feed processing workshop should be far away from the production area; the use of ventilation fans should be small; the daily operations should be lightly stabilized; the female rabbits should try their best not to use steam during the latter part of pregnancy. (Coal) oil torches are sterilized; firecrackers are prohibited from being set around the rabbit house.
