Recently, in order to ensure the smooth development of the hospital's informatization construction with the electronic medical record as its core, the Ministry of Health issued the “Method and Standards for Evaluating the Level of Application of Electronic Medical Record System Functions” (hereinafter referred to as the “Standard”), which will implement the electronic medical records. The medical institution evaluated and the evaluation system was divided into 8 levels.

Electronic medical records, also called computerized medical record systems or computer-based patient records, are digitized patient medical records that are saved, managed, transmitted, and reproduced using electronic devices (computers, health cards, etc.) instead of handwritten medical records. In the future, the patient's medical treatment and examination results can all be connected through a single card.

The "Standard" shows that the medical institutions with the highest level of electronic medical records must integrate the patient's medical records and personal health information in various medical institutions to form a complete electronic medical record; at the same time, medical institutions must also implement resident electronic health records. Information exchange and sharing.

In the recent "Ministry of Health's Evaluating and Evaluating Electronic Patient Records Rating Training Meeting", Jiao Yahui, Director of the Department of Medical Affairs of the Ministry of Health, introduced that this year is the final year of the new medical reform three-year target task, and the implementation of electronic medical records, residents' health records, etc. needs to pass. The assessment will be one of the priorities for the next round of health reforms.

As early as last October, the Ministry of Health had issued a notice to select at least 50 pilot hospitals and three pilot regions nationwide to undertake the electronic medical record pilot work and explore the establishment of an electronic medical record system suitable for China's national conditions. Among them, Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian and other 22 provinces and districts and cities were selected as the designated pilot provinces, and 29 hospitals and 3 districts were designated as pilot units and pilot areas for electronic medical records of the Ministry of Health. The provincial health administrative departments of designated pilot provinces selected some tertiary hospitals as pilot hospitals for electronic medical records.

The medical informationization will surely increase the operating efficiency of public hospitals and allocate medical resources rationally, which will become an important means to alleviate the “difficulty of seeing a doctor and costly visits”.
