Uzbekistan plans to cancel customs VAT on certain drug imports in 2011

Business News Agency December 15th According to local media reports, since January 1, 2011, the Uzbek government intends to cancel the customs value-added tax concessions for imports that meet domestic demand for domestic production, in order to support domestic pharmaceutical companies.†Ukrainian pharmaceutical industry "National Corporation and Ukrainian Ministry of Health is developing a list of relevant drugs.
According to the report, the domestic pharmaceutical industry in Uzbekistan can only meet the domestic demand of 10-15%. Only 10% of the medicines required by the Ukrainian Ministry of Health are purchased from the country, and the rest are imported from abroad. At present, Uzbekistan is implementing the Plan for Modernization, Equipment and Technology Innovation of Pharmaceutical Enterprises before 2011, aiming to reduce U.S. dependence on imported drugs. In recent years, Ukrainian procurement of domestic pharmaceuticals has continued to expand. In 2008, the purchase amount was 6.71 billion cu (about 4.1 million US dollars), in 2009 11.39 billion SUM (about 7 million US dollars), and in 2010 it was planned to purchase 14.79 billion cu (about 910 Ten thousand U.S. dollars). According to statistics from the Ministry of Health of Genwu, there are currently more than 100 Ukrainian companies that have obtained production licenses for pharmaceuticals and medical products. There are 22 affiliated companies under the “Ukrainian Pharmaceutical Industry†National Stock Company, and more than 300 pharmaceutical and medical products have been registered for production.
