China's portable medical electronics market grew strongly to $3.2 billion

At present, there are more than 10,000 medical electronic product manufacturers in mainland China, of which more than 800 are large-scale production enterprises, and the total sales of products exceeds 30 billion yuan. Mainly concentrated in Shenzhen, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Beijing and Jiangsu. In November 2008, the Chinese government further expanded domestic demand and added 4.8 billion yuan in special funds to support the construction of rural health service system.

1. Exports of portable medical electronic products are slightly larger than imports, but imports are growing faster.

From 2005 to 2009, the import and export volume of portable medical electronic products has maintained a surplus of 0.16 to 324 million US dollars. In 2009, affected by the international financial turmoil, exports of portable medical electronic products increased by only 1.1% to US$1.154 billion. It accounts for 42.1% of the total sales of locally produced products. Although the import value is lower than exports, the growth rate is faster than exports. In 2009, imports reached US$928 million, a year-on-year increase of 10.9%. Imports are expected to exceed US$1 billion this year, still exceeding the growth rate of exports. The driving force for rapid growth in imports comes from the demand for high-end portable medical electronics in the Chinese mainland market. At present, the number of elderly people over 60 years old in mainland China has exceeded 160 million. With the improvement of people's living standards and the new medical reform, the locally produced medical electronic products are far from meeting the market demand. Imports accounted for 36.9% of the total market size in 2009 (see chart below).

2. The market for portable medical electronics continues to grow strongly

In 2005-2009, the market for portable medical electronic products in mainland China showed an accelerated growth trend with a compound annual growth rate of 30.8%, which was hardly affected by the financial crisis. In 2009, the total market size reached US$2.512 billion, with a growth rate of 25.8%, accounting for 53.2% of the total medical electronics market. In the portable medical electronics market, households account for more than 60% of the share, electronic sphygmomanometers , portable blood glucose meters and electronic hearing aids account for more than 90% of the sales. Since the current market is in the primary stage of popularization, China's population base is large, and the health awareness of Chinese people is improving, the entire portable medical electronics market needs to face the Chinese domestic demand market, and there is no market saturation called the impact of the financial crisis. Therefore, the market prospects for portable medical electronic products in the home market are very good. Portable, informational, low-power, low-cost and security are the hotspots of the market. Looking into the future, the prospect of China's portable medical electronics market is very attractive. In the next two years, China's portable medical electronic products market will grow at a compound annual growth rate of nearly 30%. In 2010, the market size will be close to 3.2 billion US dollars. In 2011, it will exceed 4 billion. Dollar. (See below).

3. Sales of portable medical electronics are growing rapidly

In April 2009, the new medical reform plan was introduced. The government plans to invest 850 billion yuan in the three years from 2009 to 2011 for the basic medical security system, the national essential medicine system, the primary health care service system, and the basic public health services. And five key reforms in public hospitals. With the introduction of these two policies, within three years, the government's investment in the medical equipment market has reached hundreds of billions of yuan, further promoting the rapid development of the medical electronics industry.

According to statistical analysis, in 2009, sales of medical electronic products in mainland China increased by 18% compared with 2008, close to 4.7 billion US dollars, of which portable medical electronic sales increased by 19% year-on-year to reach 2.738 billion US dollars. Medical electronics sales are expected to continue to grow at a rapid rate in 2010, exceeding $5.6 billion. Sales of portable medical electronics can exceed $3.4 billion. From 2005 to 2009, the compound annual growth rate of total sales of medical electronic products in mainland China reached 15.9%, of which the compound annual growth rate of portable products reached 23.5% (see the following figure).
