Angina treatment a trick - drink water

Mr. Lu, 65, is a competent person who is employed by a company after retirement. Although self-deprecating is "work for work," it does a good job. Get up at 6 o'clock in the morning, just go to the nearby park for a bite and walk for half an hour at medium speed.

A new situation has emerged in recent months. There are often chest tightnesses in the park. The doctor gave him a 24-hour monitoring of the electrocardiogram, which showed that there was indeed a myocardial ischemia at that time, but the use of anti-angina pectoris medication did not help. What is strange is that after this period of time, no matter whether it is riding a bicycle to work or doing heavy work, it is not an illness. There is no abnormality in the electrocardiogram.

I learned that the patient had nocturia 1 or 2 times. Because of fear of nocturia, they dare not drink water after dinner. I think it may be due to lack of water at night, blood concentration, resulting in increased circulation resistance. Although he drinks water and milk in the morning, he will be active after breakfast and it will take about half an hour to enter the blood circulation. I told him the above idea and suggested that he drink 150-200 ml of water after urinating in the middle of the night. He was skeptical, but promised to try it.

Two weeks later, he came back to the clinic and said that after drinking water in the middle of the night, there was no angina in the morning exercises. However, if you sleep well and you don't get up at night, you may still develop symptoms during morning exercises. He asked: There was no urination during the night. Why was there water shortage? I told him: Although no water was lost on the surface, the urine had left the blood circulation and was stored in the bladder. The blood concentration was actually the same. It is therefore recommended that he drink a glass of water or milk before going to sleep at night.

From then on, his angina did not recur in his morning exercises.

This of course does not mean that drinking water is effective for all types of angina. It should be clear from the truth.

In general, patients with reduced myocardial blood supply due to coronary artery stenosis have no angina at ordinary times. This is due to the lower oxygen demand of the myocardium in quiet state, which can maintain the balance between supply and demand. On this basis, if additional blood pressure fluctuations, abnormal heart rhythm, increased physical workload, emotional activity, autonomic instability, coronary spasm, or anemia, hyperthyroidism and other factors, it may break the balance and induce angina pectoris. . Therefore, treatment should also be determined according to the inducement.

The lack of water in the body, whether it is like the above-mentioned patients, may be caused by the decline of the concentration function of the kidneys in the elderly, the increase of water from urination, the excessive sweating in summer, or the severe vomiting diarrhea caused by other causes. Water shortage, thick blood, increased circulation resistance, causing angina. Under these circumstances, timely and adequate supplementation of water will help correct body fluid balance and relieve symptoms of angina.

By the way, patients have often told me recently that some doctors said he was "blood-thick" and let him infuse every day. This seems to be too rash and extensive.

The so-called "blood thick" should refer to increased blood viscosity or high-viscosity syndrome. There are many causes, such as increased red blood cells, platelet hyperfunction, macroglobulinemia, hyperlipidemia or diabetes. For different causes of increased blood viscosity, different treatments should be used. In particular, the "blood-thick" conclusions obtained in some cases are not reliable. There may be unnecessary waste, and even heart failure or other adverse reactions may be caused by improper transfusion.

It seems that infusion of fluids without careful analysis of the patient's specific conditions is not worth promoting. Infusions should have clearer indications and contraindications.
