Application of Diatomite as Insecticide
According to the insecticidal mechanism of diatomite, there are two ways to use diatomite as the main raw material and other excipients to produce pesticides.
The first is based on assassination. The diatomaceous earth is crushed, and after atomization, the needle-like particles capable of assassination of pests can be obtained, and sugar, corn starch, dextrin, sucrose molasses, soybean powder, etc. can be incorporated as an inducer. The diatomite insecticide can quickly attract pests, and then its needle-like particles pierce the surface of the pests. The pests become more and more struggling to stab, resulting in death. The representative formula is diatomite 66%, corn 1.5% of starch, 1.5% of dextrin, 3% of soy flour, and 28% of sucrose honey.
The second is to absorb the body fluids consumed by pests. This diatomite insecticide has strong sorption properties and can easily adhere to the pest surface. Prick into the body of the pests, causing them to lose water and die. For example, 46 g of diatomaceous earth, 75 ml of sodium silicate having a 40 degree of browness, and 25 ml of a 30% strength aqueous solution of fluorosilicic acid were mixed with 1500 ml of water, mixed well, and allowed to stand for 30 minutes. At the end of the solidification, 125 ml of 10% ammonia was added. After 30 minutes, wash, filter, dry, pulverize, and sieve through 325 mesh. The sieved material can be used to kill insects.
Studies have shown that new insecticides produced from diatomaceous earth can kill various pests such as moth larvae, invertebrate larvae, aphids, beetles, fleas, lice, bedbugs, mosquitoes, and flies, and are used to control pests in crops. , Storage of grain and seeds, removal of surface parasites from livestock, and other effects are very significant.
